Tweddle has been an Early Parenting sector leader since starting as a Hospital for Babies and School of Mothercraft Nursing in 1920. Nearly a century later, Tweddle operates across Victoria in over 13 locations supporting thousands of parents with babies and toddlers with residential, in-home and community based programs.

As we all know, the parenting journey can be challenging. We’re often led to believe that becoming parents will be one of the happiest times of our lives, and for most of us it is (although at various times) but more than 10% of mums and dads will struggle with anxiety or depression. Along with the joy of becoming a mum or a dad comes the social, financial and emotional reality – less money, less sleep and a lot more washing.

Of course, there are plenty of great times as well so hang in there. As your baby grows, parenting gets easier, your confidence will grow and there is a lot of help around.

Worldwide scientific research supports the fact that there are things that parents can do to help shape their child’s social, emotional and educational future and relationships throughout life, including the parent/child relationship.

While this scientific research is well known by health professionals and academics, translating the science into everyday language, with links to evidence based resources, will help plant the seeds for lifelong, loving, parent/child relationships.

Parenting Babies and Toddlers offers support and information around 7 themes, Sleep and Settling, Crying Babies, Mental Health & Mindfulness, Attachment, Brain Development, Adjusting to Parenthood and Fatherhood.

The foundation of these 7 themes is positive mental health and the emotional wellbeing of babies, toddlers and their parents. This is achieved through everyday moments and interactions that build secure attachment.

Tweddle is grateful to the Collier Charitable Foundation and DreamWalk for supporting this project. Thanks also go to the Raising Children Network for providing access to helpful videos. Tweddle’s Sleep Play Bond videos funded by the State Trustees Australia Foundation and filmed by Lifebuoy Video are also included in this app.
